COTSWORKS is identifying and qualifying alternate sources of supply for the optical subassembly components internal to its SX transceiver products. Once qualified, these alternate components will not change the optical performance specifications of any SX products as listed on the data sheets available at the time of this PCN.
All customers should contact their COTSWORKS account manager for further information and to discuss procurement of the current sub-assembly component for secure storage and selective use for periods after December 2020.
This PCN is to clarify all digital diagnostic values stored within COTSWORKS’ transceivers. COTSWORKS is providing this information publicly on our datasheets to comply with industry best practices and to clarify to our customers why certain values were selected. Additionally, COTSWORKS has reviewed and updated the check sum fields within digital diagnostics to align them more closely to the SFF-8472 specification’s definition of check sum fields. Any changed values are considered to be “vendor fields” by the SFF-8472 specification and do not affect the performance of the transceiver. The most recent revision of any transceivers’ datasheet will provide a detailed explanation of each field. These datasheets are available for review on COTSWORKS’ website. For any questions or further clarification please contact the COTSWORKS sales team.
The RJ, SFF, and SFB families of transceivers will switch from the currently utilized black vinyl dustcaps to clear silicone dustcaps. There is no impact to the functionality of the transceivers and this change will improve the consistency of fit and ease of removal of the dustcaps. Shipping processes and current packaging are unaffected by this change.
